Can someone tell me how to paste the japanese sentence after copying it from shimeji?? Where is the clipboard??

adamrocker 08-12-02 (火) 7:44

Thank you for using simeji, mio.
You can paste it by “menu + v” or “long trackball down”.
Enjoy it.

このメッセージはシメジを使って書いています。
Would you be inproving the input method any time soon?
It’s already hard to enter alphabet into G1 and the additional steps needed to use simeji make it the hardest PDA to use Japanese so far.
Can you at least eliminate the CUT&PASTE somehow?
Izumi

adamrocker 08-12-10 (水) 18:09

>Izumi
Thank you for your comment.
Sorry, I can’t understand your comment.
Why do you hard to input alphabet?
You just tap the J/E button on the G1 display.

And simeji is just an application not system tool, so you should copy texts from simeji to any application.

ParadoX 09-02-28 (土) 7:23

Is there a way to convert to Katakana? Perhaps shift + character?
Thanks.

james 09-03-08 (日) 11:38

Thank you very much for this app. This is actually one of the better implementations of japanese input I have seen because the notification bar is always visible. What I think will help though is if simeji is somehow able to be placed in the “Ongoing” section instead of the “notification” section. The reason is because when I hit the “clear notifications” button it will clear simeji too.

adamrocker 09-03-08 (日) 12:07

>ParadoX
Version1.6.0 or later,
Katakana is in the conversion candidate list all times.
Please update Simeji.

>james
Thank you for your advice.
When someone hit the “clear notifications” button and then simeji isn’t clear, It’s strange isn’t it?
I suggest you that you use “Quick launch”. It’s easy and useful for you to launch an application.
You go [Menu]-[Settings]-[Applications]-[Quick launch], then you bind a key to simeji.
Enjoy!!

Caio 09-05-14 (木) 4:16

This is more of a pet peeve but if you could capitalize the S so it reads Simeji I think it would look better. What does simeji stand for? I thought “si” doesn’t exist in the Japanese alphabets, isn’t it “shi?”

Megan 09-06-09 (火) 5:45

I have been using this application for a long time now and I really love it! However, recently it forecloses whenever I try to select and convert the sentence into kanji. Any ideas, or is this only happening to me?

adamrocker 09-06-10 (水) 20:16

>Megan
Do you connect the Internet?
Unless you don’t connect the Internet, Simeji may not run well.

Thomas 09-06-16 (火) 9:06

First of all, thanks for this great app. I’m running Simeji2.4.1 on HTC Magic atm. When I’m running Simeji in Flick, how can I input a word such as やった? I couldn’t figure out how to do the っ. While at it, how can I do other small characters as well (e.g. ぁ)? I’m really new to this IME on smartphone. Thanks a lot… Keep up the great work.

adamrocker 09-06-16 (火) 19:41

>Thomas
Easy you can!
Touch the key ‘a’, then you touch the left bottom key ‘小’, you can input the small character ‘ぁ’.
The key transforms a normal character to a small character.
Try it!

Thomas 09-06-18 (木) 8:05

Thanks Adam, looks like I didn’t see the obvious 小 sign. My bad~ lol

adamrocker 09-06-18 (木) 8:12

>Thomas
Do you use Qwerty type?
When you use the style, ‘xa’ means ‘ぁ’.
‘やった’ is changed from ‘yaxtuta’ or ‘yatta’.
Please try it.

ゲスト 09-06-18 (木) 11:17

I use qwerty most of the time but switch to Flick time to time. Thanks for the tip, I certainly learned something new.

This is not really related to my enquiry before but how does Pocket Bell work? I saw the demo screencast, but I just didn’t get how it works.

Cheers

adamrocker 09-06-19 (金) 16:36

Pocket Bell style need to typing 2 keys to input a character.
When you type 2 keys ‘11′, you can input ‘あ’.
When you type ‘23′, you can input ‘く’.
I mean, the first typed character makes you to select a ‘a(1),k(2),s(3),t(4),n(5),h(6),m(7),y(8),r(9),w(0)’.
And the second typed character is vowel.
‘1′ is ‘a’, ‘2′ is ‘i’,…,’5′ is ‘o’.
So, if you type ‘4(t)’ at first, and then, you type ‘5(o)’, you can input ‘と(to)’.

Christy 09-07-03 (金) 10:11

Thank you for creating simeji, its so practical. However, i have the problem same as Megan. The system forceclose when i try to select kanji. I have already connected to the internet. Also, i could only use simeji in horizontally instead of the vertical one that shown in your instructions above. I am using htc magic now. Thanks.

adamrocker 09-07-03 (金) 10:29

>Christy
Did you download from Android Market?
And, is your Android version cupcake?
I’ve published Simeji for cupcake on my blog (http://www.adamrocker.com/blog/265/simeji-the-launcher.html).
Please try it.

Adrian 09-12-26 (土) 9:42

Adam,

On the G1 android phone, when im using the keyboard and not the software keyboard, how do i switch from english text to japanese text? I tried every possible combination possible and still cant switch it unless i close the keyboard and switch it through the software keyboard.

Thanks in advance,

Adrian

Paul 09-12-30 (水) 15:59

Dear adamrocker,
I previously downloaded Simeji ? version, and it has worked perfectly the whole time. However, because I downloaded some application (don’t know which one) that affected my phone by force closing on everything. So I reset the phone to factory settings and made a new search for SIMEJI in the market, but it doesn’t seem to appear now. Are you in the middle of upgrading it? I really need this function, so if you could please tell me how to find it in the market, I would be ever so grateful.
Thank you and Happy New Year!
Paul Ishikawa

adamrocker 09-12-30 (水) 16:05

Hi, Paul.
The latest version is based on Android 1.6.
So, if your Android is based on less than 1.6, you can’t use Simeji.

Paul 09-12-30 (水) 16:28

Hi Adam,
My phone is using Android 1.5. I was able to use Simeji on it before, so does that mean that you upgraded it for use on higher versions?.
I’ll try to upgrade to Android 1.6 if that’s the only way I can use Simeji then.
Thanks again.

adamrocker 09-12-30 (水) 17:03

Hi Paul,
Yes, i mean the latest version of Simeji is based on Android 1.6.
If you can update your phone, please try it!
You can get more comfortable input experiences with Simeji.

Kohei 10-01-08 (金) 11:29

Hi Adam

I’m not good with technology and struggling to launch/use simeji on my HTC magic - I have installed simeji but don’t have a clue how to actually use it - I tried to follow the instruction available but didn’t work. if there’s anything like a step-by-step instruction for HTC magic, it would be much appreciated…

Thanks heaps.

adamrocker 10-01-11 (月) 10:10

Hi Kohei,

You can refer to the Simeji’s first step guide which you can launch from the Launcher by tapping Simeji icon.
Please read the text in it.
Thanx.

Dave 10-01-25 (月) 15:08

I really like Simeji, so thank you for developing it!

I have 3 issues/questions:

1. When typing in English, the apostrophe character takes at least 4 clicks to find. Is there a way I can make the apostrophe more readily available?

2. The button to switch to numbers and special characters is in different places in the English and Japanese (”flick” input). Leads to confusion. I’d like to suggest that it be put in the same spot.

3. Where is the character for stretching vowel sounds in katakana? The ー character, for example in コーヒー. I can’t find it at all! Sometimes I use the dash character, but it is not the same.

Thanks again for your great app!

tink 10-02-18 (木) 13:00

Is.there an old version of simeji available?
I much prefered the manual hard keyboard input on the G1 than the current complex system to input hiragana.

Dave 10-03-06 (土) 14:57

Adam,

I just downloaded an update for Simeji, and I notice the apostrophe character is available on the English keyboard. Great! Thank you.

Also, I don’t know if it has always been there, but I found the ー character was off the わ key on “flick” input. So that’s another problem solved.

The only thing is that I still think the 記号 button and the “Shift” (up arrow) key on the English keyboard should switch positions. I know that means it would be different from a standard keyboard layout. But that would be outweighed by the benefit of having the 記号 key in the same place for both hiragana and English inputs.

That’s my opinion. Either way, having the apostrophe and ー keys available has really helped speed up both my Japanese and English typing.

Thanks for your continuing development and support of this great app.

Dave 10-04-05 (月) 3:25

Adam,

Previously I suggested switching the SYM and “Shift” keys on the English keyboard.

However, now I think the better solution is to switch the “大小” and SYM keys on the Japanese keyboard. (I’m using the “flick” keyboard.)

This also puts the SYM keys in the same place for both keyboards, which reduces confusion. Also, the “大小” and “Shift” keys are conceptually similar, as they both modify entered characters.

I hope you’ll accept this suggestion.

Thanks for working on this great application.

simejiをキャンセルするにはどうしたらいいですか?

unknown 10-09-28 (火) 16:31

i can’t find shimeji on my app list on my htc… what should i do??

Patrick 10-10-05 (火) 10:48

When I send messages in Japanese to friends who have iPhones, they can’t read the Japanese characters (even Japanese friends who type in Japanese all the time). Also, if they try to send me a message in Japanese, the characters appear incorrectly. Is this program not compatible with iPhones?

matsuda 10-12-04 (土) 0:10

very good

Hi.
I’ve installed several times, reboot the phone but doesn’t work with my Samsung Galaxy S, android 2.2

Thank you

Shingo 11-01-15 (土) 3:33

First of all, thank you for the great app.
I have been using Shimeji for a while, and it was great. Now after I factory reseted my phone, I reinstalled Shimeji, but now when I longress a text area, Shimeji does not appear as an option under input method. Do you have any idea as to why this might have happened?

I am actively trying to solve this problem, so if I find a solution, I will post here.

My phone is Galaxy S.

Thank you.

Shingo 11-01-15 (土) 3:48

*SOLVED Thanks to Sebastian on android market.
Retry after doing
settings > text&locale > simeji
Now it works.

J-Nyce 11-02-03 (木) 3:16

I just purchased the Android from EBay and is there away to convert this to a english only device…

rabbit 11-02-13 (日) 0:33

Hi!
Thanks a lot for making this!

I’m a beginner at japanese, and still a bit confused with the flick keyboard…
How do you write the ‘n’?

Stefan 11-07-25 (月) 5:03

Your program is useful, but I have some problems with it.

1: In landscape mode, Shimeji uses a QWERTY layout. Is it possible to change it to a たていすかん layout somehow? QWERTY requires pressing more keys, which takes time on a phone.

2: In landscape mode, the key height is way too small, so I keep pressing the key above or below the one I want to type in. In portrait mode (with a mobile phone layout, i.e. 1 = あ, 2 = か, 3 = さ), the keys are still a bit small, but portrait still works better than landscape. Is it possible to change the key height?

3: The word suggestions are very small (6×6 pixels/character), so it is often difficult to see if I’m picking the right choice. Is it possible to increase the font size?

Amanda 11-07-27 (水) 7:15

Is it possible to change the font size?

Amanda 11-08-29 (月) 7:13

I mean, when do write a kana and then it shows the kanji. The font displaying the kanji is very small. It’s a bit hard to read.

Sorry for not making this clear before. (´_`。)

Amanda 11-09-11 (日) 11:53

It’s updated! Thank you very much! It’s now so much better to read using this font size.
